Support woman sad after abortion Mackay

“Most women ‘choose’ abortion precisely because they believe they have no other choice.”

— Serrin M. Foster

One couple’s great hope

Hope’s Dream QLD was birthed by a team of compassionate Christian volunteers who saw a need for support services for women in the Mackay region experiencing unplanned pregnancy, and trauma following pregnancy loss.

The vision of Hope’s Dream QLD was brought to life by two founding members who, as a young couple, made the decision to have an abortion.

At that time, there were no services available in the Mackay region to provide them with the support or counselling they needed to fully comprehend their options, make informed decisions, or understand the long-term consequences of their choices. Furthermore, there was a lack of services to support them if they chose to become parents.

Years later, after struggling with fertility issues and being told they would never conceive children, they continue to experience grief and trauma stemming from their past decision.

As part of their healing process, they gave the name “Hope” to the baby they lost through abortion.

The goal of Hope's Dream is to ensure that no woman, man, or child will have to endure the hardship that Hope’s parents faced due to a lack of support.
