Helpful links for Mackay women and families

Mackay has some wonderful support agencies available to help you in a crisis and for ongoing difficulties.

• The Mackay Women’s Centre runs activities and workshops for women as well as offering emergency relief, counselling, parenting help and practical facilities such as showers, laundry and internet.

• Community Accommodation & Support Agency Inc (CASA) aims to end homelessness in Mackay. If you are in an accommodation crisis situation, contact CASA Mackay.

• One in three women will experience physical and/or sexual violence perpetrated by someone they know. If you are in a situation involving violence or abuse, contact the Domestic Violence Resource Service (Mackay & Region). This is a free service that offers support and information to women, adolescents and children experiencing domestic and family violence.

• Pregnancy Help Australia offers help sheets covering pregnancy, adoption and abortion. It also has a help sheet with specific information for men.
